exp.world: Enable Hardware Acceleration and WebGL2 issue

Some exp.world errors can be caused by Hardware Acceleration not being enabled.

Here is how to make sure that it is enabled on different browsers:

Chrome:

1. Go to your browser settings by clicking the button at the top right of the browser
(it looks like three small dots), and selecting "Settings".
2. Find the "advanced" section in the sidebar on the left, then "System".
In the list of settings shown, you will see "Use graphics acceleration when available". Make sure it is enabled.

Microsoft Edge:
1. Click on the three horizontal dots in the top-right corner and select “Settings”:

2. In the settings, click “System and Performance” and make sure that “Hardware Acceleration” is enabled. You may need to restart the browser for any changes to take affect:

Safari:

If you have to use that browser, hardware acceleration is always on.

Firefox:

  1. Click the button in the top-right with three horizontal lines and select “Settings”:

  2. In the “General” settings, scroll down to the “Performance” section. By un-checking “Use Recommended Performance Settings”, the “Use hardware acceleration when available” option becomes visible:

WebGL2:
If enabling hardware acceleration does not fix the issue, you will want to check that your computer has WebGL2.

If it does not, it will not be able to use exp.world.
This is more common with computers made before WebGL2 came out (around 2013).

How to check for WebGL2 through your browser by entering a specific address into the address bar:

Chrome:
chrome://gpu

Firefox:

Microsoft Edge:
