Can I “Opt Out” / Be Waived From the Mentor Program?

Generally, if an Agent has not been licensed in any state for a period of twelve (12) or more consecutive months, or has not completed three purchase Transactions or sale Transactions (or any combination thereof) within the twelve (12) month period immediately preceding the Agent’s Onboard Date (collectively, the “Mentor Program Requirements”), the Agent will be required to participate in the eXp Mentor Program, as a mentee, upon transfer of their license to eXp.

Each new agent is paired with an experienced agent who is a state broker approved Certified Mentor. You can not opt out of the Mentor Program. The decision to evaluate and/or issue waivers from the Program is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to know more about this process, please reach out to the Mentor Program at mentorprogram@exprealty.net.

Effective April 1, 2021 for NC Agents: All provisional brokers AND Agent's that have not completed three purchase Transactions or sale Transactions (or any combination thereof) within the twelve (12) month period immediately preceding the Agent’s Onboard Date (collectively, the “Mentor Program Requirements”), the Agent will be required to participate in the eXp Mentor Program, as a mentee, upon transfer of their license to eXp even if North Carolina is not the primary licensed state.

Any broker in the state of Washington who has not conducted three (3) real estate transactions in the previous twelve (12) month period OR who has been licensed for less than two years is required to participate as a mentee in the program even if Washington is not the primary licensed state.

There are two scenarios in which a new agent is indicated as a participant for the Mentor Program in error:

The decision to evaluate and/or issue waivers from the Program is determined on a case-by-case basis. If you’d like to know more about this process, please reach out to the Mentor Program at mentorprogram@exprealty.net.

  1. The new agent is joining a Standard, or Mega Icon Team, but the team agreement has not been signed. Some states require all team leaders to be certified before being waived. Please see the notes below. Team documents must be signed and returned, and team members must be added to the team roster before being waived from the Mentor Program.

  • Self Organized Teams require the Team Leader to be a Certified Mentor in the same state as the mentee/agent to be waived from the Mentor Program.

  • Domestic Teams - The primary team member will be paired with a Certified Mentor if they meet the following criteria:
